Forge Mill Needle Museum is located in Redditch. This historic site illustrates the rich heritage of the needle making industry. Models and recreated scenes provide a vivid illustration of how needles were once made and how Redditch once produced 90% of the world's needles.
Needle making was an arduous process. Pointing of needles, pictured, was a dangerous job often resulting in silicosis and a life expectancy of 30-35 years but well paid.
