Woodwind Competition 2023

On 29th March, Needlemakers made their way to Guildhall School of Music and Drama for the Annual Woodwind Competition for which the company provides the prizes. The entries were whittled down to 4 who performed in front of a packed hall with liverymen, family and friends in the audience. Adjudicator Peter Sparks had a very difficult job to select the winner and chose Alex Ho who treated us to Telemann Fantasty No 8 on the baraoque flute followed by Jolivet Chant de Linos and Ian Clarke Zoom Tube.

Finalists Kathryn McGuiness (saxaphone), Samantha Rowe (flute) and Patrick Kearney (bassoon) all gave fabulous performances and we had the additional bonus of Thais Bordes performing with the bassoon whilst we waited for the adjudicator to make his decision.
