City and Guilds Awards Ceremony 2024

The Master attended the annual City & Guilds prizegiving at Mansion House on Monday 11 March when the Needlemakers prize was awarded to Bridie Hardaker. Her college citation says (in part):


She enrolled on Level 2 Mechanical Engineering where she excelled, and her dexterity on the machines and attention to detail set her apart from her peers . Following her success on the Level 2 Mechanical Engineering qualification, she secured an apprenticeship at a local engineering company while continuing in excel in her studies. Her success academically is only part of her achievements She has been involved in the 'National F1 in Schools' project and has showcased her talent to the Mayor of Manchester, Andy Burnham. Furthermore, she featured on a news segment on Sky News discussing the 'Levelling Up' initiative. At Hopwood Hall College she won the prestigious William Cooke Memorial Award, given to a learner who has displayed both engineering talent and a passion for teamwork.


She made the most of her overnight visit, her first away from her local community and her first to London.


Needlemakers were one of the founding companies of City and Guilds and currently give a prize to students studying engineering related trades.
